Print, like watchmaking, is a physical labor of love. It carries the fingerprints of everyone who touches it. That spirit runs through this issue.

Details

Volume 15 of Hodinkee Magazine is built on that belief that the things we touch, read, and return to still matter. For our latest issue, we dive deep into the stories, ideas, and obsessions that define modern watch culture and, most importantly, the people who keep it moving forward.

Inside, TanTan Wang unpacks the radical innovation of Audemars Piguet’s RD series; Rich Fordon retraces the enduring story of the Cartier Santos; and James Stacey makes a case for eccentricity in horology with his ode to the world’s most unusual watches. Mark Kauzlarich spends time with Svend Andersen, a legend of independent watchmaking, while Andy Hoffman embarks on a wonderfully obsessive search for the “perfect wrist.” And then there’s Jeff Goldblum, captured by Shaniqwa Jarvis, every bit as unpredictable, dapper and magnetic as you’d expect.

Our cover story takes readers inside Louis Vuitton’s La Fabrique du Temps. It’s a study in how scale and craft coexist and what that balance says about the future of luxury watchmaking.

Pick it up, turn the pages, and remember that material craft and curiosity still have a place in a digital world. This is our ode to the human hands, sharp eyes, and restless minds that make mechanical timekeeping and magazine-making an art form.
